Those first few weeks with a newborn are something else. The tiny fingers, sleepy snuggles, little stretches, and the way you could stare at their face for hours. Somehow, the days feel impossibly long and like they're flying by all at once.
As a Birmingham newborn photographer and mom of two, I know these early days aren't always quite as peaceful as they look in photographs. There's feeding, changing, soothing, and probably a toddler asking for a snack for the fifth time. And honestly, I love that part of it too.
With over 10 years of experience photographing families, I've learned how to find beautiful light in just about any space and use it to create photographs that feel natural, intimate, and a little bit like art. I'll gently guide you through our time together, paying attention to the little details and connections that make your family yours. There's no pressure for your baby to sleep, your toddler to cooperate perfectly, or your house to look like it belongs in a magazine.
Because one day, you'll look back at these photographs and remember more than how tiny they were. You'll remember what it felt like to hold them.

Once you reach out, we'll chat about your growing family, your due date, and what you're envisioning for your newborn session. Most newborn sessions take place around 2–4 weeks after your due date, and we'll work together to find a date that makes sense for your family.
When you're ready to book, a signed contract and 50% retainer will officially reserve your spot!

2. Let's Plan Something Beautiful
I'll send over a styling guide filled with outfit inspiration, color palettes, and links to shop my favorite pieces. Together, we'll plan outfits, talk through the spaces in your home with the best natural light, and discuss any meaningful details you'd love to include. We'll work through everything ahead of time so that when session day arrives, you can just enjoy being with your family.
Newborn sessions are relaxed and completely baby-led. I'll find the beautiful light, guide you into natural moments together, and leave plenty of room for feeding breaks, diaper changes, and whatever your little one needs. If there are older siblings, we'll make sure they have time to warm up and be part of the fun, too!
3. Just Show Up and Be Yourselves
Within six weeks of your session, your photographs will be ready! We'll get together virtually to see your gallery for the first time, relive all those little moments, and look at some beautiful ways to bring your favorites into your home.
Your session includes your digital photographs, but I'll also have ideas for heirloom albums and framed artwork if you'd love something tangible to enjoy for years to come.
4. Relive Those First Days
After your gallery reveal, you'll receive access to your online gallery, where you can download, share, and enjoy your photographs.
And if you've decided on an album or framed artwork, I'll handle the details from there. All that's left for you to do is enjoy your photos!
5. Enjoy Your Memories
Your newborn session includes personalized planning, styling guidance, our time together, and a gallery of at least 40 professionally edited, high-resolution digital images with printing rights. You'll also receive a $100 artwork credit to put toward an heirloom album or custom framed artwork.
Sessions take place in the comfort of your home, with plenty of time for feeding, snuggles, and all the little moments in between.

For families who want to remember both the anticipation and those first days together, this collection includes a maternity session and a newborn session, with planning guidance and digital images from both.
Heirloom albums and custom framed artwork are also available if you'd love to enjoy your photographs beyond the screen.
Kate took my family newborn pictures when my youngest was born. I also had a 2-year-old at the time, which you can imagine made it much more complicated. Kate never got frustrated with the chaos and never made me feel rushed when the photoshoot took longer than expected due to nursing breaks, diaper changes, and the nature of a "terrible twos" toddler. The pictures that Kate took were incredible. She captured all of our personalities perfectly and I will treasure these pictures forever. In addition to the amazing photos, Kate is an absolute JOY to be around, and you will feel so loved the entire time.

Absolutely! This session is about documenting your growing family in this season of life, and that includes big brothers and sisters!
We'll make time for photographs of everyone together, siblings with the baby, and all those sweet, natural interactions in between. I'll gently guide everyone through a few family portraits, but leave plenty of room for those little personalities to shine through. And if someone needs a little extra time to warm up, that's perfectly okay!

That's completely okay! My newborn sessions are relaxed and baby-led, with plenty of time for feeding, changing, soothing, and snuggles.
I've had plenty of parents with particularly fussy babies tell me afterward how surprised they were by the beautiful photographs we captured! Your baby doesn't need to be asleep or perfectly content the entire time. Some of my favorite images happen in those little in-between moments.
// What if my baby is fussy or won't sleep?
Absolutely not! You don't need a "picture-perfect" home to have beautiful newborn photographs. With over 10 years of experience, I've learned how to find beautiful light and make the most of all kinds of spaces.
We'll talk through your home ahead of time, and I'll help you figure out which areas will photograph best. No need to redecorate or deep clean the entire house!
// Do we need to have a perfectly styled home?
Babies have a way of doing things on their own schedule! We'll plan around your due date and stay in touch once your little one arrives. If we need to adjust our session date, we'll work together to find something that makes sense.
// What if my baby arrives early or late?
I recommend reaching out as soon as you're comfortable sharing the news! I only take a limited number of sessions each month so I can give every family the time and attention they deserve.
Most newborn sessions take place around 2–4 weeks after your due date. And if you're already further along or your baby is even here, don't hesitate to reach out! I may still have availability.
