With over 10 years of experience as a Birmingham family photographer, I've learned that some of the most meaningful photographs happen when things don't go exactly as planned. The laughter, the movement, and the little in-between moments are the things I want you to remember.
My photos are full of life and contrast, mixed with a little bit of mood. My outdoor family sessions are known for that beautiful backlit golden-hour light. I love making art out of the everyday, and I like sessions that are a little less posed and a lot more genuine.
Look, I get it - being in front of a camera can feel awkward. But you don't need perfectly behaved kids or to know what to do with your hands. I'll guide you through the session, be your calming presence, and probably provide some comedic relief in the midst of chaos. We'll play games, maybe sing and dance, and let your kids be kids. I've learned after photographing hundreds of families that some of the best images happen when everything feels like a mess.
Based in Birmingham, Alabama, I photograph families throughout Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, Homewood, and beyond. I've traveled across the Southeast capturing families and am always happy to go wherever your story takes us.

A Few Family Favorite Sessions
It all starts with an inquiry! Tell me a little about your family and what you're envisioning for your session.
I want to do your memories justice. And to do that, I want to make sure we're a great fit — like we could get coffee and hang great fit. Because if we mesh well, you'll have a great time and your photos will show it. So tell me about your family, your personalities, and the little things that make you you. I want to know it all!
Once we've settled on a date, a signed contract and 50% retainer officially reserve your spot on my calendar.

2. Let's Plan Something Beautiful
You won't have to figure everything out on your own. I'll send over my styling guide to help you coordinate outfits, and we'll work together to choose a location, time, and activities that feel like your family.
We'll put some thought into the details ahead of time so that when the day comes, you can relax and enjoy it. I'll take care of the direction, while leaving room for those little, unplanned moments that often turn into my favorite photographs.
This is the fun part! You don't need perfectly behaved kids (or spouses 😉) or to know how to pose. I'll guide you through the session, step back when the moments unfold naturally, and probably make a fool of myself to get a few laughs.
The goal isn't perfection. It's capturing your family as you are and showing you just how beautiful your everyday life really is.
3. Just Show Up and Be Yourselves
Within six weeks of your session, your photographs will be ready! We'll get together virtually to see your gallery for the first time, relive all those little moments, and look at some beautiful ways to bring your favorites into your home.
Your session includes your digital photographs, but I'll also have ideas for heirloom albums and framed artwork if you'd love something tangible to enjoy for years to come.
4. Relive the Day
After your gallery reveal, you'll receive access to your online gallery, where you can download, share, and enjoy your photographs.
And if you've decided on an album or framed artwork, I'll handle the details from there. All that's left for you to do is enjoy your photos!

All Inclusive Family Photography $1,000
Your family session includes personalized planning, styling guidance, a relaxed photography experience, and a curated gallery of at least 40 digital images. Your photographs are yours to download and enjoy, with no additional image purchases required.
Heirloom albums and custom framed artwork are also available for families who want to preserve their memories beyond the digital gallery.
Your full gallery will be ready within six weeks of your session, but I'll send a few sneak peeks your way in the meantime!
Once your photos are ready, we'll get together virtually to see them for the first time and look at some ideas for albums and framed artwork. Afterward, you'll receive your online gallery to download, share, and enjoy your images!
06 When will we receive our gallery?
I'll send over a styling guide filled with outfit inspiration, color palettes, and links to shop some of my favorite pieces. And if you need a little extra help pulling everyone's outfits together, I'm always happy to help! I can even put together a personalized mood board to help bring everything together.
05 What should we wear?
Trust me, I've seen it all! Kids are going to be kids, and I never expect them to be perfectly behaved. I believe in meeting them where they are, taking our time, and letting things happen naturally rather than forcing smiles or poses.
That's actually one of the reasons I don't typically recommend mini sessions. Some kids need a little extra time to warm up, take a break, or just be themselves, and I want us to have that flexibility. Some of my favorite photos happen when we stop trying so hard and just let kids be kids!
04 What if my kids don't cooperate?
Family sessions are $1,000 and include everything from planning and styling guidance to our time together and a gallery of at least 40 professionally edited, high-resolution images with printing rights. No additional purchases are required!
I also offer heirloom albums and custom framed artwork if you'd love to turn your favorite photographs into something tangible for your home.
03 What's included in a family session?
I photograph families throughout Birmingham and surrounding areas, both at home and outdoors. I love choosing locations that mean something to your family, whether that's your own backyard, a favorite place you spend time together, or simply the comfort of home. There's something extra sweet about documenting your family in a place that's already part of your story.
Of course, if you don't have a location in mind, I'll help you find the perfect spot!

Kate took my family newborn pictures when my youngest was born. I also had a 2-year-old at the time, which you can imagine made it much more complicated. Kate never got frustrated with the chaos and never made me feel rushed when the photoshoot took longer than expected due to nursing breaks, diaper changes, and the nature of a "terrible twos" toddler. The pictures that Kate took were incredible. She captured all of our personalities perfectly and I will treasure these pictures forever.
